Great place for Portuguese tarts. I've been here on two different occasions and the taste is very consistent. After talking to the owner, they have been there and in business for 30 years!

Make sure the egg tart is fresh. If you are unsure, don't get it!! Our egg tart crust was cold and hard almost plasticy taste. I expected something more flaky and warm at least. The custard gets sweeter as you eat it. Very disappointed

This review is only for the Portuguese egg tarts. They were not made fresh and tasted like they came right out of the fridge. The cold crust was soggy and hard to bite through. The custard part was also cold and not at all creamy. So disappointing. Probably should've gotten the rotisserie chicken that were taunting us in the back instead.
On the bright side, the guy taking my order was very nice when he pointed out that it was cheaper to get 6 Portuguese egg tarts than the 5 I was originally gonna get. -

Place has gone downhill. I've been coming here for almost 3 decades - had not been back to the St. Lawrence Market for a while and picked up what used to be my favourite sandwich at the Market.
(a) Chicken was sparse in volume and bland bland bland compared to what a piri piri churrasco chicken should taste like;
(b) One thin sliver of tomato, one piece of iceberg lettuce;
(c) Bun dry;
(d) Pasteis de nada - leathery shell, just gross. Filling bland.
(e) I have not tried the rissois de camarao (shrimp rissoles) yet - they're in my 'fridge.
It is a shell of what used to be a formerly amazing place, with endless line ups. What a disappointment. They need to pick up their game. My first clue should have been that there was just one person ahead of me and no one after us. I feel badly - but in order to remain competitive, people have to maintain previously held good standards.
